Cuimsiú
Galway County Fleadh 2026 took place from the 15th - 17th May 2026 in
Coláiste Bhaile Chláir .
It was the first time Cuimsiú was part of the Galway Fleadh and it was a great success.

Galway Comhaltas is proud to introduce Cuimsiú, an inclusive initiative at Fleadh Cheoil na Gaillimhe 2026 for performers who have an additional need or disability. Inspired by the success of Mayo Comhaltas, Cuimsiú aims to create a welcoming, flexible, and joyful space for everyone who wishes to take part in our musical tradition.
What is Cuimsiú?
Cuimsiú provides a flexible, joyful space for participation in both competition and informal music sessions. Our goal is to ensure that every musician and singer, regardless of ability, feels supported and valued.
Who is eligible to compete?
Any competitor must be availing of the services of CDNT (Children's Disability Network Team) or Adult Services.

Galway Comhaltas Cuimsiú Sessions
Galway Comhaltas successfully hosted two Cuimsiú Sessions during 2026, with the first taking place in Dr. Duggan Hall, Corofin, on 12 April, followed by a second session in Gaelscoil Iarfhlatha, Tuam, on 21 June.
Both afternoons were very well attended and proved to be a great success, providing a relaxed, inclusive and welcoming environment for individuals with disabilities or additional needs to enjoy music, song, dance and social interaction. Participants, along with their families, friends and carers, embraced the opportunity to come together, creating a wonderful sense of community and belonging.
The positive response to both events highlights the importance of inclusive initiatives within Comhaltas and the value they bring to our members and the wider community.
