South-East Galway branch of CCÉ was founded in 2016.

 It hosted the County Fleadh in 2017. We have membership from the whole South-East

Galway region.

Our ethos is promoting a love of traditional music and song amongst our junior members through monthly sessions and special

events such as Cruinniú na nÓg.

Many famous composers and musicians hailed from our region. Eddie Kelly composed tunes called after places around his birthplace in Meelick on the banks of the Shannon - Dawn on the Strand, Kilmachugh, The Meelick Team.

Martin Mulhaire composed tunes such as The Bog road to Meelick, Farewell to Eyrecourt, The Bridge of Portumna.

Fr. PJ Kelly composed tunes called The Lough Derg and The Ben HIll.

Portumna Workhouse and The Hurling Boys of Portumna are two compositions by Joanie Madden,whose father, Joe, hailed from Portumna.
